Principal's Message

Welcome to Uvalde High School!

My name is Elizabeth Sandoval and am eager and excited to start my second year as principal at Uvalde High School. Last year was a great year! We graduated a class of 336 seniors, who we wish the very best to on their future endeavors.  New campus initiatives were implemented which will continue to be along with others in order to continue to strive for academic excellence and prepare our students for college, the military, or the workforce.

I look forward to working with my wonderful staff, amazing students, and great parents again this year. We will continue to focus on student attendance, implement the student code of conduct and increase academic student performance by providing our teachers with instructional and classroom management support in order for them to deliver engaging and rigorous instruction.

Some staff changes have taken place over the summer. In administration, Mr. Russell Lee has been hired as an assistant principal. He is taking the place of Ms. Florinda Cardenas who is now the vice principal.  Christy Perez was added as one of our counselors.  We also welcomed a new athletic director this summer, Richard T. “R.T.” Gonzales.

Another major change this year is the opening of the Uvalde Early College High School.  It is located on the high school campus directly behind the UHS cafeteria. Over 120 freshmen have enrolled. These students will have the opportunity to graduate from high school with an Associate Degree from SWTJC.

The success of our students begins with a strong partnership between our faculty and staff and our parents/guardians.  I encourage parents and community members to visit our campus and take an active role in our students’ education and support them by instilling in them the importance of being in school on time every day prepared with the required supplies ready to learn. You can also support our students and promote school pride by attending our extra-curricular activities throughout the school year.

I look forward to another amazing year at Uvalde High School!
